 Fran attended the University of Connecticut where he earned a Bachelor’s degree magna cumlaude with a major in Spanish and a minor in Italian. He then went on to earn a Master’s Degree in Spanish at Central Connecticut State University and a Sixth Year Degree in public School administration. He taught Spanish and Italian at Wolcott High School (1970-1986), North Haven High School (1986- 1996), Naugatuck High School (1996- 2001) and Woodland Regional High School (2001- 2007). He also served as department chairman at these four schools. After “retiring” in 2007, he joined the faculty at Sacred Heart High School in Waterbury, where he remained on staff until the school closed in 2021. It was at this time that he accepted the position of permanent substitute at Thomaston High School.


Fran lives with his wife in Wolcott, where they raised their three daughters. He enjoys coin collecting and especially vegetable gardening.
