Language Arts

Susan Santovasi graduated with the degrees of Bachelor of Science in Recreation and Leisure Studies from Southern Connecticut State University, Master of Arts in English Literature from Southern Connecticut State University, and Juris Doctor from Quinnipiac University School of Law. She completed teachers’ fellowships in literature with Yale University and Harriet Beecher Stowe Center through the National Endowment for the Humanities. She has published various articles on literature, social justice, and law. Ms. Santovasi taught for three years at Cooperative Arts and Humanities Magnet High School in New Haven prior to teaching at Thomaston High School, where she has taught English since 2003. She teaches SCSU Introduction to Literature, UConn Literature and Composition, UConn Rhetoric and Legal Issues, UConn Political Science, English 11 American Literature, and Advanced Placement Computer Science Principles. She currently teaches courses for Post University’s Paralegal and Pre-Law programs as well. She has served as the advisor to the Gay Straight Alliance (GSA) and the Moot Court Competition Team. She also serves on the Grading Policy and NEASC Steering committees at THS. In 2014 Ms. Santovasi was named Thomaston Teacher of the Year.
